Who we are

Cover Locker is a receipt and warranty vault app built by a UK claims-tech team. This policy explains what information the app and website collect, how it is used, and the choices you have.

Overview

Cover Locker is designed to keep your proof of purchase and warranty records on your device. The free vault works without an account and without uploading your documents to our servers.

If you create an account for Cover Locker Pro (trial or paid subscription), we process limited account and billing information so we can authenticate you and unlock Pro features. With Pro, you can also choose to back up your vault to our cloud so you can restore on a new device.

Data we process

• Vault data (on device): item names, merchants, prices, dates, categories, notes, serial/model numbers, and attached photos or PDFs you choose to save.
• Cloud backup (Cover Locker Pro, when you back up): a copy of your vault metadata and document files stored securely in our cloud under your account so you can restore on another device. Backup is manual from the app; it is not continuous background sync.
• OCR results (on device): text extracted from images you capture or import, used to help fill item fields. You can edit results before saving.
• Account data (if you sign in): email address and authentication credentials handled by our auth provider (Supabase).
• Subscription status (if you subscribe or start a trial): whether Cover Locker Pro is active, trial flags, and expiry related to store purchases, stored against your account profile.
• Purchase verification data: store receipts / purchase tokens sent to our verification service so we can confirm a valid App Store or Google Play subscription. We do not receive your full card number.
• Website contact: if you email us, we receive whatever you include in that message.

Camera and photo library

Cover Locker requests camera and photo library access so you can capture receipts and warranty documents or import existing files. Images and PDFs you select are stored in the app’s private storage on your device. If you use Cover Locker Pro cloud backup, those files are also uploaded to our private storage when you run a backup.

On-device OCR

Text recognition runs on your device to extract merchants, dates, totals, line items, and warranty fields. OCR output is stored locally with the related item. Accuracy varies with image quality; you remain responsible for checking extracted details before relying on them for a claim.

Exports and sharing

Claim-pack export (PDF summary plus ZIP of documents) is a Cover Locker Pro feature. Exports are created on your device and shared only through your platform share sheet. Cover Locker does not upload claim packs to our servers. What you send — and to whom — is your choice.

Cloud backup

Cover Locker Pro can upload a backup of your vault (item and collection details plus attached documents) to private cloud storage tied to your account. You control when to back up and when to restore. Restoring replaces the vault data on that device with the cloud copy. Deleting your account removes associated cloud backup data subject to our retention practices below.

Accounts, trials, and subscriptions

Signing in is optional for the free vault and required to subscribe to Cover Locker Pro. Free trials, where offered, are provided through the App Store or Google Play subscription — not automatically on account creation.

Payments are processed by Apple or Google. We use purchase verification (including a server-side check) to update your subscription entitlement. Billing disputes, refunds, and cancellation are handled under the store’s rules and your device subscription settings.

Legal bases (UK / UK GDPR)

Where UK data protection law applies, we process personal data on these bases as relevant:

• Contract: providing the account, trial, and subscription features you request.
• Legitimate interests: securing the service, preventing abuse of purchases, and improving stability.
• Consent: device permissions such as camera or photos, which you can withdraw in system settings.
• Legal obligation: where we must retain or disclose information to comply with law.

Retention

On-device vault data remains until you delete items, clear app data, or uninstall the app. Cloud backups (if you used Pro backup) are kept while your account exists and are removed when the account is deleted, subject to short-term backups for security and dispute handling. Account and subscription records are kept while your account exists and for a reasonable period afterward for security, accounting, and dispute handling. You may request account deletion from within the app where available, or by emailing us.

Processors and international transfers

Account authentication, profile storage, Pro cloud backup storage, and purchase verification may use Supabase and Apple/Google infrastructure. Those providers may process data in the UK, EEA, US, or other countries under their own safeguards and contractual terms. We do not sell your personal information.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal data, and to object or complain to a supervisory authority (in the UK, the ICO). To exercise rights related to your Cover Locker account, contact info@coverlocker.com.

Children

Cover Locker is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Website

Our marketing site at https://coverlocker.com provides product information. It does not require an account. If we add analytics or similar tools later, this policy will be updated before those features collect personal data.

Changes

We may update this policy as the product evolves. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Material changes affecting accounts or subscriptions will be highlighted in the app or on the site when practical.
